RIVERS ASSEMBLY: 27 lawmakers suspended by PDP in the State gets court order
LEGISREPORTS NG - The twenty seven lawmakers in the Rivers State House of Assembly that was suspended by Felix Obuah led Executive has secured a court order retraining the Party from suspending and declaring their seats vacant.
The court order issued by Justice Aprioko of Port Harcourt high court also restrained the PDP in Rivers State for calling for election to replace the suspended PDP Lawmakers.
According to House Leader Mr. Chidi Lloyd who spoke to our Reporter, “when we got a hint that they were going to suspend us, we quicky went to court and got an injuction restraining them from doing that, so the injuction was gotten in the morning before they called the Press Conference in the afternoon.
Mr. Lloyd however said hearing on the matter has been fixed for the 6th of May.
It would be recalled that the 27 Lawmakers of the Rivers State House of Assembly were on Monday suspended by PDP in the State for failing to heed to calls to recall the suspended Chairman of Obio/akpor LGA and his Executive.
Meanwhile, the Lawmaker representing Etc he Constituency two in the State House of Assembly Mr. Victor Amadi has insisted that the House followed due process in the suspension of the Timothy Nsirim led Executive of Obio/akpor LGA.
Mr. Victor Amadi who stated this while reacting to the comments made by two other member against the suspension of the of the Executive of Obio/akpor LGA wondered why the lawmakers would decide to misinform the public on the rules of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
“To be honest with you, am shocked at their reactions, because I want to believe that they are not comfortable with the truth, they arr trying to deceive the people and make this issue look political, I want to re-affirm the fact that the issue followed due process”.
He said investigations are still ongoing into the allegations levelled against Timothy Nsirim and his Executive.
