REPS NEWS: Reps member urges PDP Exco to retain zoning of Rivers governorship

LEGISREPORTS NG – A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ogbonna Nwuke has urged the Rivers State Executive of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to retain the zoning of political offices in the State in the interest of fairness and equity.

Hon. Nwuke who represents Etche/Omuma constituency in the House told newsmen that it would amount to undemocratic act to deny other zones opportunities to rule the State.

He said the recent pronouncement by the chairman of the state PDP, Mr. Felix Obuah that there would be no zoning for political offices was unfair to those who have ambition to contest such positions.

He further said that such practice would affect the balance of power in the State and create confusion in the polity.

He however called on party executives in the state to rescind their stand on abandoning the zoning of office particularly the governorship position.

It would be recalled that the State party Chairman Sir Felix Obuah had announced that political offices in the State are for those who are willing to contest without respect to zoning.
