POLITICS: Shema to emerge as NGF chairman, Amaechi bows to Jonathan
LEGISREPORTS NG- Barring last minute changes in permutation, Ibrahim Shema, governor of Katsina State may emerge as the chairman of the highly influential Nigerian Governors’ Forum, NGF, we have just learnt.
This indication comes as it was revealed that the governors in Abuja carried out a shadow election. According to our investigations, governors believed to be in President Goodluck Jonathan’s camp and angling to see an end to Amaechi’s tenure remained in tact, albeit in the minority if the entire 36 governors were to vote.
But it was also learnt that a large number of the governors who backed Amaechi chose to abstain from the vote.
Another source of blow to Amaechi’s camp was what was termed as the volte farce of the states affected by emergency rule.
The governors were deemed to have been grateful to the president for not yanking them out of power out rightly and had conceded to back Shema.
