OSUN ASSEMBLY: Lawmaker Condemns Distribution Of Motorcycles To Public
LEGISREPORTS NG –The member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing Obokun State Constituency, Mr. Femi Fafiyebi, has condemned the distribution of motorcycles by political office holders to members of the public.
Fafiyebi, speaking at his empowerment programme in Otan Ayegbaju on Sunday which involves such things as training of people in fish farming, telephone repairs, bee keeping, barbing, hairdressing and bead making,, said his refusal to join other political class members in the distribution of motorcycles to members of the public is because motorcycle distribution did not represent dividend of democracy.
The lawmaker added that skill acquisition and development among youths was better than distributing motorcycles to them.
He said, “What we are doing here today is to replicate the youth empowerment programme of the state government. We are not distributing motorcycles as some other governments had done in the past. Rather, we are looking at ways of bettering the lives of our youths through capacity building.
“The number of people who die or lose their limbs daily to motorcycle accidents is alarming. The world is moving towards mass transit, why should we still be transporting one or two persons in this modern age?”
