ODDITY: Dangote brother accuses Senator Bukola Saraki, of stealing $11m
LEGISREPORTS NG – Fresh allegations have emerged accusing former Governor of Kwara State and serving Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial district in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Bukola Saraki, of stealing $11m.
The accusation was made in a petition to the EFCC by by Aliko Dangote’s younger brother, Sayyu Dantata.
The northern Nigeria-based businessman and younger brother of Aliko Dangote, alleged that he made a special deposit of $11 million at the bank, one which he stated was shared between Senator Saraki and Mbonu while they were in charge of the bank.
Sequel to the petition it received, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday questioned the former managing director of Societe Generale Bank of Nigeria (SGBN), Robert Mbonu over the fresh allegations unearthed.
It was reportedly gathered that Mbonu was questioned following revelations during investigations that NGS Securities Limited, one of the companies linked to Mr. Saraki, used funds stolen from SGBN to purchase shares at the Southern Sun Hotels, formerly Ikoyi Hotels.
The said shares it was further learnt were later converted to Mrs. Saraki’s personal coffers.
LEGISREPORTS also gathered that former employees of the bank have been invited for questioning by the EFCC.
It would be recalled that Senator Saraki had on August 12 turned himself in for questioning to the EFCC after the commission declared him wanted, though he was subsequently released on administrative bail.
