LEGISREPORTS NG – Lawmakers in Imo state on Wednesday stormed the office of the Accountant- General of the state to protest the non-payment of their two months salary and allowances.
The lawmakers rose from plenary after a motion moved by Mr. Robertson Ekwebelem and seconded by Mr. Kingsley Dimaku, in which they resolved to meet with the Accountant-General and the Commissioner of Finance, to know why civil servants and legislators in the state remained unpaid for two months.
The move of the lawmakers to the Accountant-General’s office did not yield any fruit as the AG, Mrs. S. N Udogu was said to be out on another official assignment.
The lawmakers also visited the office of the Commissioner of Finance before returning to their Assembly complex to conclude sitting.
