SENATE NEWS: Senate hold valedictory session for former Deputy Senate President, Legogie

LEGISREPORTS NG – The Senate on Wednesday held a valedictory session in honour of late Senator Albert Legogie, a former Deputy Senate President. Legogie who served as a presiding officer in the 3rd Republic died on June 19, at the age of 66.

Presenting a motion on the death of Legogie Senate Leader Victor Ndoma-Egba, PDP, Cross River, described the former Deputy Senate President’s demise as a monumental loss to the nation.

“Legogie was a generous and loving family man, an advocate of peace and social justice whose death is a grave loss.”

Senators also extolled the virtues of late Senators Tony Anyanwu and Wahab Dosumu, second republic senators from Imo and Lagos States, respectively.

According to Mark the three late senators were distinguished Nigerians whom were known to be “practical, forthright, patriotic and down to earth.”

He said that a delegation would be sent to attend the burials of Anyanwu and Legogie since Dosumu had since been buried according to Islamic rights.

The upper chamber also commiserated with the families of the deceased and the government and people Edo, Imo and Lagos States respectively, and observed one minute silence in their honour.
