Our attention has been drawn to an issue making rounds that if Arc. Darius Ishaku is voted in on Saturday, the state risks becoming an opposition state. The fear merchants are going about trying to dissuade people telling them they would suffer if the state votes in the PDP.
But we wish to state emphatically that nothing could be further from the facts on ground. First, Taraba as a PDP state would continue to enjoy all the statutory allocation meant for state governments. That would not change because we are PDP state.
Again, the next phase of governance the country is entering is not one that the center would become so overriding in the affairs of the country. Rather it is one in which states would have the onerous task of looking inwards for revenue generation.
With Arc Darius in charge of the state, the potentials of the state would maximally explored to see how we can become more self sustaining. After all, over dependence on the center has remained the bane of our economy.
Darius has always said he is coming to ensure that Taraba becomes the fulcrum of the tourism industry in Nigeria with the world famous Gembu Mambilla. This sector only can sustain Taraba state when well harnessed. Beyond that, the mineral resources abounding in the state is one area Darius plans to vigorously tap into when voted in.
On the overall, there is no way Taraba would be disadvantaged because it remain a PDP state given the level of commitment, programs and manifesto ot the man, Darius in all the sector of the economy.
Trying to scare our supporters with the bug bear of being an opposition state is therefore a no brainer. And our supporters are not discouraged.
