CROSS RIVER NEWS: Cross River canvasses Commission for insurgency
LEGISREPORTS NG -Government of Cross River State has called on the federal government of Nigeria to establish what it called International Cross Border Commission to cater for insurgency and ethno-religious crises at Nigeria’s border towns. Director General of the State Border Commission, Barr. LEO Agrey said the establishment of such commission will help contain such cross border tension and crises in countries surrounding Nigeria.
Speaking in Calabar yesterday, Aggreystated that government also needs to strengthen economic activities in these border towns. Aggrey who is former Attorney General of the state, attributed the problem of insurgency to the high rate of unemployment.
He advised Nigerian youths to strive and embark on ventures that are lucrative and peaceful rather than venturing into all forms of dubious and deviant behaviours that would never yield any form of profit in return and shun anybody who may want to induce them with money to resort to violence.
